Palfinger order for Malaysian Navy

Palfinger Ned-Deck has received an order from Boustead Naval Shipyards for 12 newly designed davits which will be produced for the Royal Malaysian Navy.

In the next ten years 12 aluminium davits will be delivered for six littoral combat ships, which are based on an enlarged version of the Gowin-class corvette which was designed in France.

“This order is very important for Palfinger Ned-Deck to set foot in the South East Asian Defense market. For us this is the first co-operation with Boustead, the biggest shipbuilder in Malaysia, and also a record order in Malaysia,” said Hans Cramer, managing director of Palfinger Ned-Deck.

PRH 45 AP ALU TWIN is a davit system recently launched with the V-Series, which is made of aluminium to fulfil the requirements for light weight instillation. The system executes a twin-setup in which two davits are connected to one hydraulic power unit, and is SOLAS approved according to the European Union Council Directive on marine equipment.

“The main reasons for choosing our davit system were innovative design, competitive pricing, the Palfinger service network and our support during the tender phase. The delivery of the 12 davits is a first step to set up a good cooperation and to further strengthen the relationship for future projects,” Mr Cramer added.

The contract has been finalised and will be built in Malaysia by Boustead at a ceiling price of US$2.8bn. It also includes an agreement for services, meaning Palfinger Ned-Deck will provide training, project management, integration and spare parts for the system.
