PASCAL: TOP 5 OF 2013

NauticExpo's Content Manager, Pascal Braud, presents his top 5 picks for 2013

Flying high thanks to foils has been becoming more common over the past several years, and this year’s America’s Cup has certainly been an accelerator of innovation. Since the beginning of moth foiling, foiling technology has become more affordable and more accessible via a larger number of platforms. We hope that the success of the Flying Phantom project will create a new dynamic class.

The classic art of knots is another trend that is now widespread, making its comeback on modern boats thanks to high modulus fibers. The world of fittings has been rocked by Cousin Trestec’s Constrictor, a product which is disconcertingly simple and efficient.

Karver responded with the KJ Jammer, a jammer which blocks yet protects the ropes with 3 jaws moving inside an alloy cone. Its design won’t leave you feeling indifferent, but will the line clutch resist?

Classic also resurfaced with Chris Craft’s Capri 21, a runabout which reinvents the beautiful lines of vintage Chris Craft models.

Last but not least, we can’t forget Recaro‘s successful modern design: an all-carbon pilot seat pedestal that is both telescopic and electric.
