'Sport utility' yacht Nemo

Designed by Fulvio De Simoni and conceived by MC Yacht & Co International for the French Ocea shipyard, the Nemo project is a 44m all-aluminium yacht under 500gt with a range of 4,000nm and abundant space for stowing a host of tenders and toys.

Building on his experience as a broker and management consultant, Aldo Manna created MC Yacht & Co to build and service superyachts. He chose as his partners for the Nemo project two industry stalwarts: Fulvio De Simoni is a leading Italian designer, whereas Ocea specialises in building fast patrol boats and commuter yachts in aluminium. With a flexible layout already devised and the engineering design at an advanced stage, the eye-catching Nemo project is ready to move into production.

The basic concept behind Nemo is to provide owners with a “Sport Utility Yacht” for long-range, adventurous cruising in style and comfort. Key features include 300sqm of open-air spaces, a 25sqm beach club, swimming pool, Jacuzzi, and space for sailing dinghies and a variety of tenders up to 7.5m. Covered and indoor spaces include a 30sqm “loggia”, wet bars, a 75sqm master suite, gym, and four en suite guest cabins.Nemo will be powered by relatively small CAT C32 main engines for a top speed of 16 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots. With her deep keel, 9.15m beam and lightweight aluminium construction, she will have a range of 4,000nm at a super economical speed of 10 knots. Fuel tanks with a capacity of 50,000L and 9,000L of fresh water reserve provide extended offshore autonomy.

“Nemo is really innovative with a unique look and solutions more typical of a much larger yacht,” says Francesco Merenda, general manager of MC Yacht & Co International. “With Ocea we are also offering future owners the possibility of customising their yacht.”
