DAME Design Awards 2015 winners announced

The winners of the DAME Design Awards 2015 were announced on the opening day of the METSTRADE 2015. The awards celebrate and acknowledge outstanding products of design in the maritime industry across various categories. In addition to the winners, the jury also identified 9 Special Mention product; runners up that deserve a commendation.

The overall 2015 DAME Award was jointly awarded to Humphree’s electric stabilising fin and interceptor system, and Spinlock’s Lume-On lifejacket. With their innovative stablising fin, Humphree has created a 360-degree rotating fin designed to combat anchor walking. This is fully integrated with their interceptor trim devices, together offering full coordination of pitch and trim; a feature that is expected to increase handling with greater fuel efficiency.

With the Lume-On, Spinlock created a small and affordable LED light that attaches underneath the bladder of any inflatable lifejacket. When activated, the inflated lifejacket itself is used as a diffuser that is transformed into a glowing device. The accessibility and cost effectiveness of the product is what stood out to the jury.

The category winners included Domestic Holding’s Waeco CRX; a three-in-one fridge freezer solution, Henri Lloyd’s Flex 3D jacket, NautiBuoy’s multi-functional inflatable platforms, the Halo Pulse compression radar from Navico, and Tru-Design’s Load bearing Collar.
