Solarglide Supports National Coast Guard Institution

At more than 100 feet hight, with a 360 view, the watch tower boasts a perfect view of the Solent and Southampton Waters from Portsmouth to Yarmouth.

One-hundred volunteers have freely given up their time for over five years to keep a daily look out over some of the busiest waters in the United Kingdom. In 2012, after two years of professional and vital work, the team was rewarded with the great honour of becoming officially part of the National Coast Guard Institution.

In 2014 the Calshot Watch Tower contacted Solarglide, complaining of problems related to solar glare and heat. These problems were preventing the volunteers from effectively anticipating, alerting to and avoiding potential disasters at sea.

Solarglide share Calshot''s philosophy that whilst the coastguards may have a whole array of high-tech gadgets at their disposal, there really is no substitute of a set of human eyes watching the waters. To be able to carry out their duties in an effective manner, spotting any potential problems early on, the volunteers rely upon a clear sight of the ocean and a safe and comfortable environment.

When Calshot Watch Tower contacted Solarglide, the team instantly suggested the top selling SG Glider solar screens, a fully retractable window solution that reduces solar glare by up to 93%, rejects up to 83% of solar energy and virtually eliminates UV radiation.

Since the installation of 3 SG Glider screens last year, the watch keepers have benefited from having a clear view from the tower in all conditions of solar glare and have enjoyed a more comfortable working environment, thus increasing productivity. The tower has also benefited from avoiding the additional costs for the repair and replacement of vital equipment which could have become damaged from over heating.

Having been so impressed with Solarglide''s products, Calshot Tower contacted Solarglide at the beginning of March 2015 to order another Solarscreen which the team were happy deliver again at cost price, as a token of their support such a fantastic organisation.

Solarglide''s SG Glider solarblinds can be used in any building or vessel where solar glare poses a problem. Contact us today for more information and for a fast competitive quote, the team are be happy to help.
