Piracy Prevention Plan Secured For UK Ship Management Company

Marine Window Films

Solarglide has been selected to supply anti fragmentation safety film to a UK ship management company operating over 100 international vessels in its fleet.

The latest four shipsets supplied in April 2016 bring a total of 15 vessels outfitted so far, with a plan to continue the installations throughout 2016 / 2017. On this project we have secured approximately 50 windows per vessel, offering peace of mind for crew and their families back at home

Like many international shipping companies; piracy prevention is still top of the safety agenda and preventative measures are crucial in saving crew lives and avoiding huge ransom pay-outs for the ship owners and managers.

SG Safety film assists by holding dangerous shards of glass together in the event of gunfire or an explosion. It is also very good at stopping immediate access through glass openings, giving crew time to alert authorities and get to the safety of the ship panic room. SG Safety film is not a bullet proof film; however the risk to life is significantly reduced with this film applied

SG Safety film is available as an internal or external film – or as a combination of both for maximum glass protection. The safety film is clear, so its non-intrusive and will not restrict the view for crew and passengers; it is also suitable for bridge windows and doors which are a key target for pirates during attacks at sea.

Solarglide offers a unique cut and supply service; they cut the film to the exact shape and size of the window glass (including curved window corner radiuses). With the inclusion of a professional installation kit, the safety film can be applied to the windows by crew once received onboard. The film is thick in consistency meaning the installation is quick and easy, and because the film is tough its less likely to get damaged or creased.

SG Safety film is a low cost, highly effective addition to your piracy prevention programme; it compliments other anti-piracy equipment such a laser devices, water cannons and electric fences and is an alternative to ugly metal window bars.
