On its sixth edition, the Dutch Solar Challenge will take place from July 2 through July 9, 2016. In this period of challenge 39 teams from The Netherlands, China, Brazil, Indonesia and abroad the world will compete to win the challenge on their solar boats wich are designed and built by the teams themselves; the competition will start on July the 2nd and will move from Amsterdam to Lemmer, Drachten Grou and finally in Leeuwarden on 9 of the month.

TU Delft Solar Boat team couldn’t miss this important date!.

TU Delft Solar Boat team consists in 24 students from different faculties, they were committed to realize a boat able to compete against competitors from all around the world aiming on its point of force: speed.

Realized with an extreme design, the boat "flies" over the water to maximize efficiency and speed, while minimizing resistance.

The needs for energy is completely provided by semiflexible solar panels made by Solbian Alternative Energies, from Turin, Italy: 1750W focused on an area of only 8,907m2, obtained using the best cells on the market, SunPower™ ones, and the skill of Solbian to provide modules perfectly adaptable to the outer surface of the boat.

A vehicle that makes the speed as its main feature cannot ignore lightness; also in this case Solbian flexible solar panels are the right answer to the needs of the team. With only 1.45kg/m2, they make possible to limit the weight of the boat to a total of 109Kg..

The extreme weight reduction has made possible to save about 6kg compared to the already lightweight Solbianflex standards, while maintaining maximum structural strength and ease of use, two main characteristics of Solbian products.

With our minds on this important happening, only just have to see who will win the 2016 Dutch Solar Challenge competition.
