Active winter for Design Catamaran and the Toro34

were ready to rumble…The first two races happened in light air and we manage to finish 4th and 2nd but to our big disappointment, we finally receive a DSQ on race 2 because we passed the offset mark on the wrong side but to our defence we were not the only boat misunderstanding the offset mark on race 2. After a little bit of confusion our penalty costs us 10 points. Even with a huge drop in the overall ranking from 3rd to 7, we were determined to push harder the next two days. The forecast for the end of the week called for heavier air around the 20-knot range. The last two races were sailed in strong wind and big swelly sea. The Toro was flying and did very well in strong air, scoring a 2nd and a 1st place

on the last two races. Race 3 was really close with the Seacart 26; less than 2 minutes difference. Race 4 was an Epic race with non-stop action, huge crossing, crazy bearaways and a checkered Flag for the Toro34. After scoring second and first in race 3 and 4, we were happy to be back on the podium. It was a very exciting event and we are thankful to our local sponsor in St Barth: Le Carré Lounge who made the regatta possible. We are happy with the Toro, now officially knowing that our boat is capable of performing well against other modern designs and can be push hard in big seas with no fear and confidence.
