Hybrid Gearbox to secure your operational profile with Dutch Thrustleader thruster solutions

For vessels with operational conditions that do not suit a fully electric concept, a multiple power source can help to secure the operational profile. A hybrid gearbox connected to our TLAT600 azimuth thruster can be a good solution. A hybrid gearbox is a gearbox with inputs (PTI) and outputs (PTO) for more than one power source. It can be mounted in front of the main diesel engine and on the PTI/PTO an electric motor can be installed to give two power sources for the propulsion thruster (see system overview picture below)

- With two power sources the performance of the TLAT600 thruster can be optimized for the connected diesel engine, with extra

support of the electric motor by peak shaving.

- During lower-speed you can sail in full electric mode which reduces noise and vibration significantly and thus gives a more

comfortable and clean sailing experience.

- On top of that, you can charge the batteries or power for hotel load by using the electric motor as a generator when sailing only on

diesel engine power.

With the Dutch Thrustleader Marine Propulsion systems and DTLP-CAT001 control systems, you can easily select different power modes to optimize your performance. Thanks to the in-house development of our reliable control system, it properly coordinates with protective and operating devices, to combine safety, simple maintenance and high availability.

Furthermore, the required converters and control equipment have been integrated into the Dutch Thrustleader Propulsion switchboards. This makes it made it possible to successfully integrate all the different power sources, achieving operational flexibility and consumption optimization.
