Taiwan's 'Blue' Energy: Working towards a Non-Nuclear Homeland

DWTEK as the key collaborator by assisting offshore projects

Taiwan has been actively pursuing strategies to boost green energy production and reduce pollution. Harnessing the potential of our unique ocean ecosystem, our focus has majorly focused on developing ocean energy conversion systems in recent years.

The milestones achieved in the ‘blue’ energy – the oceanic power generation stand out as the progress we had this year in Taiwan. With the installation of around 300 offshore wind turbines, advancements in thermoelectric power generation technology, and the recent breakthrough in successfully harnessing the first marine current (also known as the Kuroshio Current) for power generation, our efforts are aligned with the goal of achieving a non-nuclear homeland by 2050.

And we – DWTEK, have proudly been one of the key players in most of the missions, not only witnessing the success of this blue energy, but assisting the projects, to name a few, our DP1 fuel loading OSV, Sunny Bright, equipped with an expandable ROV containing multibeam sonar, manipulators, 4K camera, GPS, and luminous buoy, successfully deployed floating buoys, inspected underwater cables, conducted searches for essential underwater objects, and performed various O&M, GVI, and CVI tasks. We also joined each mission as an emergency response team supporting local offshore missions, we've undertaken numerous temporary duties, swiftly supplying materials and equipment, conducting mechanical repairs, and addressing urgent needs.

Regardless of weather conditions or the challenging marine environment, we remain dedicated to supporting offshore missions. We understand the frustration, challenges, and risks faced on each mission. Without our timely support, some missions might cause significant delays and financial losses. We consider it an honor to participate in these dangerous tasks, witnessing the milestones we've achieved while overcoming obstacles. And we are ready for the next year, let us know your offshore needs.
