CMD spa, with FNM Hybrid, at the Genoa Boat Show, to present Blue Energy and Blue Hybrid System (BHS)

The company based in Italy, at the Genoa Boat Show from 19th to 24th September, confirms its commitment to increasingly eco-sustainable engineering solutions.

C.M.D. Spa presents at the Genoa Boat Show, at the FNM Hybrid booth, Blue Energy and Blue Hybrid System: the first is the new range of lithium batteries and the second is the BHS hybridization system coupled with the Volvo D4 30HPe engine.

Blue Energy is the new range of high-efficiency lithium batteries developed specifically for hybrid and electric marine propulsion, and is the result of CMD's mix of skills and experience in the Research & Development of innovative and increasingly eco-sustainable engineering solutions. The range of batteries includes modules from 96V to 288V, starting from 22kWh of usable energy, which can be connected to each other in a modular manner to obtain solutions up to 800V.

Among the main features of Blue Energy batteries, the module cooling system that maintains optimal operating temperatures and extends battery life and an IoT communication module that transmits energy data via Wi-Fi or 5G to a cloud platform on which manufacturers and shipowners can view usage and consumption data and carry out software updates and optimizations in total autonomy. The Battery Management System (BMS) is developed in-house and is certified according to the ISO 26262 ASIL C standard.

The Blue Hybrid System (BHS) is a marine hybrid system entirely designed and developed by CMD, which makes it possible to have two navigation modes (endothermic and electric) that, although independent of each other, are managed by a single control system. The main components of the BHS are: electric motor, control electronics and battery pack.

The Hybrid Engine presented in Genoa is developed on the basis of the Volvo Penta D4 and is the result of collaboration between the Italian company Ing. Ruggero Vio S.r.l - a reference for marketing in Europe - and CMD, who have studied a specific solution for the city of Venice that allows emission-free navigation, at low speeds in electric mode and at the same time a more performing navigation, capable of also managing the recharging of the battery pack, in endothermic mode. Hybrid engines with the BHS system are the answer to the ever-increasing demand for applications that can be adopted in protected marine areas, lagoon areas and navigable canals typical of all of Europe.

CMD is able to study a tailor-made solution for each type of engine, each of which will be optimized for the specific needs for which it is intended, through measures both for assembly and for customized software solutions. The BHS developed by CMD spa can, in fact, be coupled to the internal combustion engines of various manufacturers such as, for example, - but not limited to - FPT, BUKH, BONI, VM etc.

"The skills and long experience in the field of Research & Development of our company - said Giorgio Negri, Sales Manager of CMD SPA - have allowed us to establish ourselves as a reliable partner in the development of customized engineering solutions, supporting the customer from the early stages of analysis and design up to the production of the product".

We look forward to seeing you from 19 to 24 September at the Salone Nautico di Genova | FNM HYBRID Power Village -YPB 08
