J. GOODISON SEES IMMEDIATE IMPACT WITH DELIVERY OF MARINE TRAVELIFT 820 C MOBILE BOAT HOIST (820 METRIC TON CAPACITY)

STURGEON BAY, WI (November 22, 2016) – Marine Travelift Inc. has announced the delivery of a new 820 C mobile boat hoist (820 Metric Ton / 900 US ton capacity) to J. Goodison Company Inc. at their new Quonset Point facility in Rhode Island.

The delivery of the 820 metric ton capacity machine makes it the largest boat hoist in the Northeast United States.

J. Goodison’s establishment of a new brick and mortar location with the mobile boat hoist marks the beginning of a new era for the business, having been a traveling-based service company in previous years.

According to Jack Goodison, an owner/partner of J. Goodison Company, Inc., their new Shipyard location has been seeing immediate results since the delivery of the 820 ton mobile boat hoist. “It’s almost been like starting a separate company. The shipyard has been so busy that the traveling dockside division hasn’t been able to share resources like we had thought.”

Not only is J. Goodison seeing an impressive amount of growth, they are establishing their position in the Shipyard business as a location with unique capabilities that allow for the hoisting of vessels with a width of over 56’ and height of 60’.

“We knew acquiring this boat hoist would open up a niche, and it did. We’re getting the larger, more difficult jobs that would like to be taken to a shipyard, but had to schedule and wait for service in dry docks previously” Stated Jack Goodison.

In order to work with such large vessels in tight quarters, the 820 C was equipped with Marine Travelift’s patented all-wheel electronic steering option.

“The All Wheel Electronic Steering has really made a difference,” said Goodison. “Maneuvering on the 1.9 acre south lot is tight, but with the carousel steer, we are seeing a tremendous advantage of mobility that allows us to maximize our utilization of the space at a very efficient rate.”

The patented All Wheel Electronic Steering option was a significant objective for J. Goodison. In addition to All Wheel Electronic Steering, a partnership with a reputable American company that had a long history of providing customers with high levels of service and long term solutions was also held in high regard.

“Working an American made company was a very big deal to us. The fact that we knew that we can call and there would be someone there to pick up the phone was very important,” Stated Goodison. “Their service technicians are very highly experienced and extremely disciplined. You could tell how much respect they had for customers and the cost of crane rentals, they had 27 tractor trailers unloaded within hours and assembled the boat hoist at an astonishing rate.”

The new 820C mobile boat hoist will allow J. Goodison Company Inc. to expand business and reach new niche markets. Their customers will benefit from the recent expansion while the Shipyard continues to increase their quality operations in their new geographic location.
