The story of a project unlike any other.

Arrival of the Olympic Flame in Marseille and welcome of the Belem

On 8 May 2024, the Olympic flame disembarked from the Trois Mats Belem on a floating athletics track in the heart of Marseille's Vieux Port, in front of a crowd of nearly 200,000 people.

For almost a year, our teams had been hard at work preparing for this unique event.

After a trial of the structure in autumn 2023, the organisers of the ceremony awarded MarineFloor Europe the contract to build the 1,500 m2 floating structure that would become the floating athletics track used by the first torchbearers in France.

The scale of the project was colossal. For our part alone, in the midst of 17 other different trades, it took almost 350 hours of work, 9 semi-trailers of equipment, 6,000 Ecosystem cubes, site machinery, 1,500 m2 of flooring, several thousand screws, etc. and countless meetings, plans, calculation notes, adaptations, etc.

What a show!

We're very proud to have taken part in this unique event, to have risen to the challenge of this extraordinary structure, to have once again created a custom-built pontoon for the Belem, a boat dear to our hearts, and to have met the needs of a state-of-the-art event organisation!

(re)Live these few days through three dedicated videos available on our website or on our Youtube channel:

- A retrospective of the editing by our teams

- A time lapse of the editing from the roof of the Hôtel Carré on the Vieux Port

- A compilation of the best images of the arrival of the Belem and the flame

And of course, for any floating project, unusual or otherwise, you can count on us!
