New 520 Explorer is sailing the international waters
The first Explorers are sold and shipped and we are getting first feedback
We are happy to report that the first few 520 Explorer boats are sold & delivered to the customers and we are slowly getting some feedback. And it is good!
The boat is exactly what it promises: well built, robust, quality, suitable for extreme expeditions in all weathers yet still beautiful!!
Our US distributor exhibited the Explorer at the Annapolis Spring Sailboat Show and it was picked up by SAIL Magazine. Here is what they said:
“The new Minicat 520 Explorer made its debut at the Annapolis Spring Sailboat Show and it definitely caught the eye of SAIL Editor-in-Chief Wendy Mitman Clarke. The 17–foot beach cat was designed for sailors who were exploring the Arctic, so it’s built to withstand some heavy stuff. Its eye-catching feature is the tent that’s on the trampoline up forward. You can be underway with this fully deployed with your crew tucked away and snoozing, or you can lower it or even remove it and camp on the beach next to the boat.
A first for Minicat, this boat has a centerboard that draws about 2 feet and helps with upwind performance. It also has a square top mainsail with two reefs, a roller furling jib, and an option for a Code Zero. Best of all, it breaks down and packs into three six-foot-long bags that can be checked as airport luggage, so you could conceivably fly this boat to whatever destination you like and go sailing for as long as you like. If keep it simple, fun, and fast is what you’re into, this is a new boat to check out.”
