Paprec Arkea Team | Nodus Factory
A Lab Nodus mission initiated by the Paprec-Arkea team: innovate and manage the end-of-life of a product !
Team Paprec Arkea, a race for the Ocean: there are mornings like no other !
When the Paprec Arkea team arrives in the Lab-Nodusfactory with clear and precise specifications, we scratch our heads, we shake our neurons and we cogitate...
For Yoann and Simon, at this stage of research, Biosourced is not yet usable for structural parts, but we can already work on the construction of non-structural parts in Biosourced for Class 40 and Imoca boats!
The Paprec Arkea team is clear: "you design a padeye with a strength of 250 kg where the textile is not integrated as in the classic fiberglass or carbon padeyes - non-recyclable padeyes with a high carbon footprint. This project will already allow us to start using and mastering biobased materials in racing."
This is how the Pad-Race from the Lab-Nodusfactory was born with the smallest ecological footprint and the highest mechanical resistance compared to those existing on the market.
Dimensions: 50mm x 40mm
Weight : 8gr
Resistance: 250 KG
Materials: PA11* bio-plastic
Manufacturing process: 3D printing
*Produced from a bio-sourced product, castor oil, PA 11 is used in a wide range of applications, thanks to its properties: chemical resistance, mechanical resistance, ease of processing, possibility of use in a wide range of temperatures (-40 to +130°C), low friction coefficient and low water absorption compared to other polyamides.
