Norwegian davits with a new, smart locking system
Norwegian NorDav's davit system for dinghies and jet skis is popular among boat owners in both Europe and the USA. The davits have a simple and timeless design combined with uncompromising quality.
With dealers in most of Europe, NorDav's dinghies can be seen on more and more boats in both the european archipelagos. They combine discreet and elegant design with high quality.
This year's novelty is a new type of rotary lock. The spring-loaded rotation stop is made of stainless steel, produced at the request of Norway's largest boat builder, Viknes Båt och Service AS.
The lock is as ingenious as it is practical. It automatically locks when pivoted into a fixed position. For launching, the lock is easily released by lifting a spring-loaded locking pin.
The disadvantage of many older davits is that they either take up too much space or require you to manually remove the outboard from the inflatable boat before it is hoisted up, which means unnecessary strain on your back. With NorDav's solution, the outboard can stay put. NorDav's davit system is mounted at the far end of the bathing platform and is therefore both discreet and also out of the way.
- This is the successor to the first horizontal davits, but without overhanging parts that you can hit your head on. It is very discreet and the idea is that all boat manufacturers should be able to incorporate our davit without it affecting the design of the boat, says product developer Magnar.
The duplex stainless steel, the electropolished surface and the winch telescope means that a NorDav davit can outlive your boat and that you can easily take your jet ski or inflatable boat with you. The unique design means that the system can also be mounted on smaller bathing platforms.
- The smallest boat we installed NorDav on is a Rinker 28. Thanks to the cantilevered tipping point we achieve the greatest side uptake angle. Increased side uptake enables smaller platforms, this is actually the secret of NorDav. The system does not take up much space, and it is very robust. We have not compromised on quality and almost everything is manufactured in Norway, explains Magnar.
