Meinhardt (Hong Kong) Limited, a leading engineering consultancy firm, has received Dolphin1 Remote-controlled Lifebuoys from OceanAlpha for its East Coast Park project. The lifebuoys were delivered on March 3, 2023, and were put through rigorous testing and training sessions.

Leighton Asia, a leading international construction company established in 1975 and headquartered in Hong Kong, has received Dolphin1 Remote-controlled Lifebuoys from OceanAlpha for its Boardwalk underneath Island Eastern Corridor Project. The lifebuoys were delivered on March 3, 2023, and were put through rigorous testing and training sessions.

The Boardwalk underneath Island Eastern Corridor (2.2 km from Oil Street to Ho Yiu Street) connects Causeway Bay and Quarry Bay of Hong Kong Island. Upon completion of the proposed Boardwalk, the harbourfront of the northern shore of Hong Kong Island stretching from Shek Tong Tsui in the Western District to Aldrich Bay in Shau Kei Wan will be fully connected, providing a continuous promenade of some 12 km long for public enjoyment. The Dolphin1 Remote-controlled Lifebuoys will enhance safety measures along the harbourfront to safeguard the workforce and the community.

"We are delighted to have received the Dolphin1 Remote-controlled Lifebuoys from OceanAlpha, which will help us provide a safer environment for our workforce and for those visitors to the Community Liaison Centre," said Bob Yeung, Project Director of Leighton Asia, "the rigorous testing and training have demonstrated the effectiveness and reliability of the lifebuoys. We look forward to putting them into use and enhancing the safety of the area."

The Dolphin1 Remote-controlled Lifebuoys are designed and manufactured by OceanAlpha, a world-renowned unmanned surface vehicle (USV) company. These lifebuoys are equipped with a remote control system that allows rescuers to deploy them quickly in case of emergencies. With a maximum speed of 3.3m/s, faster than any human swimmer, Dolphin1 can reach the drowning victims immediately and bring them back to a safe place.

Dolphin1 Remote-controlled Lifebuoys have been successfully used in numerous rescue operations worldwide, including rescuing a 15-year-old boy from drowning at sea in Weihai, China. The acquisition of these lifebuoys by Leighton Asia demonstrates the company's dedication to enhancing its safety confidence in its workplace and public areas.
