First Seanergy set for Biarritz

Seanergy, an international business convention on Marine Renewable Energy, will take place for the very first time on June 1-2 2016 in Biarritz, France (Halle d’Iraty).

As a unifying event for this high growth potential sector, Seanergy 2016’s aim is to define and promote the MRE sector throughout the world: floating and offshore wind turbines, marine current power, floating solar panels, wave power…

"The following period will be the dawn of a new era in the wake of COP21. MRE is undoubtedly an up-and-coming industry when it comes to energy transition, fostering growth, and sustainable jobs both in France and globally", explained Marc Lafosse, Head of BlueSign- organizer of Seanergy.

The Seanergy 2016 Convention will gather 200 exhibitors and more than 3,000 international stakeholders in the industry (manufacturers, SMEs, institutions, experts, research centres…), in an exhibition hall, conferences, B2B meetings, and plant visits. The aims of this convention are to strengthen synergies between the stakeholders of the industry, to define its role and framework and promote its development in France and around the world.

Seanergy also hosts the ‘MRE world’ and organizes B2B meetings in partnership with Enterprise Europe Network, the largest European network for the innovation and internationalization of companies, allowing the interaction of all involved parties regardless of their industry, size and origin;

There is also a strong national component to the event. A pre-opening session to Seanergy will be convened in the afternoon of Tuesday 31 May. The session will be the 3rd edition of the national conference on Marine Energy, a major political event organized by the French National Association for Renewable Energy.

As an inter-regional event, it will host representatives of all coastal regions of France, for each region to share its unique expertise and skills and thus create synergies.

Seanergy is organized in partnership with the Côte Basque-Adour conurbation and the city of Biarritz, territories which in the past have always focused on wave power. The Aquitaine Poitou-Charentes Limousin region, with its 720 kilometres of coasts, has always been committed to the development of the maritime economy, and with the Spanish-Basque government, is involved in two projects: the wave power and floating wind power test site BIMEP and the oscillating water column pilot plant of Mutriku.
