Haslar Marina to install new ‘smart bollards’

Bertholders at Haslar Marina will soon be able to control their electrical supply remotely after a new £1.5m system is installed

Dean & Reddyhoff Marinas has announced a £1.5m investment in Haslar Marina, which includes the installation of new Rolec Quantum electricity bollards.

The marina’s new facilities will be compatible with Rolec’s BerthMaster Online system, which means bertholders will be able to turn their power on or off from any web enabled device.

What’s more, boat owners will be able to securely pre-pay for their electric usage and check their consumption levels remotely.

E-mail updates will keep bertholders in the loop, with low credit alerts and disconnection notifications both possible.

Ben Lippiett, marina manager at Haslar Marina, said: “We hope customers will use less electricity as a consequence (with obvious environmental benefits) as they will get immediate feedback on usage so can quickly identify power hungry devices on board.”

Installation of the new Rolec Quantum bollards will begin in April, and other ongoing projects at Haslar Marina include major improvements to the washroom facilities.

Dean & Reddyhoff owns four marinas in the UK, including East Cowes, Weymouth and Portland as well as Haslar.
