Northern Boat Show to launch in Liverpool in June

The Northern Boat Show will take place across three days at the start of June

The first Northern Boat Show will take place later this year at the Albert and Salthouse Docks in Liverpool.

Kicking off on 5 June, the event will run for three days and is expected to attract more than 25,000 boat enthusiasts to the area.

The show will run alongside the International Mersey River Festival, which regularly draws crowds of more than 200,000.

Northern Boat Show organisers said: “With its rich maritime history and significant re-development over the last thirty years, the waterfront’s infrastructure is ideal for a boat show, with a perfect mix of accessible berths in Albert and Salthouse Docks and space for a large exhibition on the surrounding quaysides.

“Liverpool has great transport links and is ideally connected to the UK motorway network, making it easily accessible from the north, east, west and south of the country. The show is perfectly located in the north to fill the vacuum that the Southampton and London boat shows can’t.”

Exhibitors are yet to be confirmed, with an announcement due in February, but the show is committed to showcasing a wealth of sailing and powerboats, along with various marine products and services.

Event director Richard Milbourn, said: “Market research shows that half of all UK boat ownership is north of Birmingham and yet less than 5% of visitors to Southampton and London boat shows come from the north of England.

“As an experienced skipper with an International Certificate of Competence I have a passion for sailing and boats. I understand the marine leisure market and the logistics involved in presenting a spectacular boat show in the heart of Liverpool.”

Tickets are £5, with an early bird price of £2.50
