Cornwall’s maritime museum to host antiques programme Flog It

The popular BBC programme will be filming in Falmouth on Thursday

The National Maritime Museum Cornwall will be hosting the BBC’s popular antiques programme Flog It on Thursday.

Based in Falmouth, the museum will be welcoming the show and presenter Paul Martin as they hold a valuation day later this week between 10am and 4.30pm.

Members of the public are invited to bring along up to three antiques and collectables they

might be interested in selling at an auction in Lostwithiel next month.

Everyone who attends on Thursday will be given a free valuation, even if their antiques are not chosen to go forward for auction.

National Maritime Museum Cornwall director Richard Doughty said: “Everyone here is enormously excited to be hosting another big television event.

“After the previous success of BBC Children in Need and Antiques Roadshow we are confident Flog It will be hugely popular and continue to help put Falmouth and the Maritime Museum on the map.”

Joining presenter Paul Martin on the day will be on screen experts Caroline Hawley, Philip Serrell and Charles Hanson.

Mr Martin said: “I’m delighted to be bringing Flog It to the Maritime Museum in my former home town of Falmouth. I’ve got so many happy memories of the area, I went to school and college in Falmouth and my sister still lives nearby.

“My first job was in the harbour collecting mooring fees from the visiting yachts. It’s such a

beautiful part of the country and I hope as many people as possible will come along to see us with their items for valuation.”

The BBC is planning to broadcast the four editions of the programme featuring the maritime museum within a year of recording.
