Dominator Ilumen 28M taking shape in Italy

The Dominator Ilumen superyacht is starting to take shape at the Dominator facilities in Fano, Italy. Conceived and presented to the industry as the Ilumen 26M, the Dominator team has announced that she has been lengthened by two metres from her original design, and will now be presented as the Ilumen 28M.

She is part of the new Ilumen series, comprised of 28, 32 and 36 metre models which have all been designed by AM Yacht Design in collaboration with the engineering team of Naval Head. Inside the 28M, Alberto Mancini of AM Yacht Design has utilised a variety of luxurious materials such as backlit white onyx, ebony and zebrano wood, matt oak, silk and soft nubuck leather.

Ilumen’s hull is the Dominator High Performance Hull (HPH), a hard-chine hull with a blade bulbous bow designed to produce superior resistance values in all the semi-displacement and semi-planing phases. The HPH hull has also been designed to operate in perfect symphony with the Fortjes Pods produced by Reintjes, specialists in gearbox development and production.

Federico Brumat of Dominator’s Technical Office continues to speak more of her performance and engineering: “A Dominator yacht would not carry the badge if it didn’t represent the very finest in engineering and design, so following enthusiastic feedback from the owner of the last yacht delivered, we are going to adopt a clever double system of yacht stabilisation made of a gyro and interceptors. Many yachts foresee zero speed fins; to avoid adding resistance due to appendages we went for a huge gyro stabiliser from Seakeeper capable of a reduction of 80% of the uncontrolled roll angle up to 14 degrees.”
