Revenger Ribs - Records Blown Away

Revenger RIB team secure four new records on their Round Britain Record attempt

On Monday 16th June 2003, Neil McGrigor, Tony Jenvey and Simon Rogers all from Lymington in Hampshire completed their Round Britain record attempt in an uncompromising fashion.

In their Revenger RIB powered by twin Yanmar diesels, they flew across the Lymington/ Yarmouth finish line to knock 9hrs 43mins off the under 30 foot World record in a time of 33hrs 11min 04secs. They were also faster than the 30 - 50 foot World record by 4hrs 38mins. Times were recorded by an official RYA timekeeper. Had a top speed (50 Knots) been maintained up the channel, they could also have taken the Overall Round Britain Record. This record is held by 'Record', an 80-foot specifically designed endurance record-breaking boat and was powered by 6,000hp engines! Port gearbox trouble hindered overall progress.

Also confirmed was that the team took two more records, sponsored by Marina Developments Ltd. The MDL Round Britain Challenge Trophy Open Class Under 30 foot and The MDL Round Britain Challenge Trophy Open Class Under 50 foot. Neil said, "The Revenger RIB was fantastic. We couldn't have asked for more from her."
