RACING IN MARTINIQUE

Martinique is not just an ideal departure base for going to discover the Grenadines

Although the port of Le Marin is home to many charter companies and catamarans, as well as all the necessary services for provisioning and maintaining multihulls, the anchorages around the island are quite simply amazing, and spending a week (or more) cruising round Martinique is an excellent idea for your holidays.

But you can also race in Martinique in 2015, with two flagship events:

- Firstly, the Tour de la Martinique (whose first edition took place in the 50s), which this year will bring together two events: The Carnival Regatta and the Tour de Martinique. A race in three stages, included in the 2015-2016 calendars of the Caribbean Sailing Association's (CSA) and the Fédération Française de Voile, this above all convivial but demanding event brings together every year about thirty boats of over 24 feet (7.30m), divided into 5 classes, including one for cruising multihulls. The 2015 edition will take place from 13th to 17th February, and 40 boats are expected.

- The Martinique Cata Raid is a sport catamaran regatta, which is raced around the island. At the end of January, over forty boats met up for this excellent regatta.
