THE RAPIER 550 CATAMARAN - IT’S SAILING!

The Rapier 550 has just been launched, and sailed for the first time in England just before the international multihull boat show, which explains its absence.

This resolutely modern catamaran was designed by Dazcat Designs, and has a clear aim: performance and comfort aboard! To achieve this, Darren Newton (the architect) hasn’t skimped on the means, with an interior steering position and all the control lines led inside, an out-of-the-ordinary design and a nice interior volume which has been entirely redesigned. For the moment, the cat has only sailed in 5 knots of wind, or 30... It is therefore hard to form a clear opinion, even if the advertised performance (25 knot top speed - 350 miles in 24 hours) could well prove to be accurate. A full test is planned, soon...
