Captains convene in Viareggio

This week will see the 2017 edition of YARE and The Superyacht Captains’ Forum.

This week will see the 2017 edition of the Yachting Aftersales and Refit experience (YARE) take place. This is the seventh year of the event, which is focused on bringing together captains, senior crew and industry representatives for networking, education and tours of nearby shipyards.

As part of the week’s activities, The Superyacht Group hosts The Superyacht Captains’ Forum on 20 April. A day-long event, the panel discussions will focus on refit, lifecycle, warranties and aftersales. With speakers from Amico, Blohm + Voss, Feadship, Jotun and Lürssen joining the debates, the event is an opportunity for captains to engage with key shipyards and suppliers.

Speaking ahead of the event, Alberto Perrone Dazara of Lürssen commented on two successful years of attending the event, which drove the German shipyard to sponsor the Gala Dinner of YARE, “I thought that this event in Italy provided us very positive results, particularly when engaging with captains and yacht managers."

Dazara will be offering his insight in the Superyacht Warranty session, the final session taking place on the day. “Warranty, for me it is a fantastic conversation because it’s a very simple thing, and I will be very outspoken,” he notes, which will ensure a lively debate on the day.

Alexander Swain of Jotun, a speaker in the Superyacht Aftersales session, explains why the brand takes part in the event, “It gives the opportunity for us to exchange lessons learned. Superyachting is a complex industry and in order to achieve efficiency in complexity, knowledge needs to be transferred between all the different stakeholders.”

In addition to The Superyacht Captains’ Forum, YARE also features a full day of B2B meetings between companies and captains.
