Mein Schiff 6 Christened in Hamburg

German cruise line TUI Cruises has christened its newest cruise ship Mein Schiff 6 in Hamburg.

The christening ceremony, accompanied by a firework display and a light show, was held in front of the Elbphilharmonie (a concert hall) in the evening hours of June 2.

The newbuilding was delivered to its owner last month as the fourth cruise vessel built by Finnish shipbuilder Meyer Turku for TUI Cruises.

With a length of around 294 meters, Mein Schiff 6 has 15 decks and the capacity to carry approximately 2,534 passengers.

On June 3, Mein Schiff 6 is expected to embark on its maiden voyage to Norway and North Cape. From June 14 until mid-August, the ship will be sailing on a number of routes in North Europe and in the Baltic region. Following this, Mein Schiff 6 will start in Hamburg its voyage to New York.

Starting from September 2017, the youngest ship in TUI Cruises’ fleet will offer cruises in the United States and Canada and from November in Middle America, TUI Cruises said.
