UAV inspection
Cyberhawk, a UK-based engineering company using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles to inspect offshore wind turbines has been named a finalist in two categories at this year’s Energy Innovation Awards.
The company has been shortlisted for ‘Best Offshore Renewables Innovation’ and ‘Best Safety Improvement’, for its use of UAVs across the offshore wind and electricity utilities sectors. The company has demonstrated significant cost, time and safety improvements through the use of UAVs for aerial inspection.
A key part of Cyberhawk’s entries was iHawk, its proprietary, cloud based asset management software. iHawk has been subject to continual development, with modules created specifically tailored to the wind and utilities industries. This software, teamed with industry qualified inspection engineers and experienced pilots, allows Cyberhawk to offer clients a full inspection engineering service.
Organisers of the awards commented on an uplift in entries from SMEs, which indicated increased engagement between energy providers and smaller innovators to use ground-breaking technologies in a collaborative way.
The awards ceremony will take place in September at the Titanic Hotel in Liverpool, UK.
