MERCURY OVERHAULS ITS OUTBOARD PROPULSION RANGE

Barrus will be exhibiting some brand-new additions to Mercury's commercial and leisure product ranges at Seawork International 2018.

Top of the list of the new additions is the expansion of the SeaPro family of commercial outboard engines with two new 4.6L V-8 models.

“The expansion to the SeaPro range delivers the higher horsepower commercial outboards that our customers have been asking for,” commented Ben Allen, general manager for the Marine Leisure division, Barrus Ltd.

SeaPro

The new 225hp, 250hp and 300hp V-8 SeaPro engines delivers the durability, reliability and efficiency that the SeaPro brand is known for and complete Mercury’s full line-up of four-stroke commercial engines from 40hp – 300hp.

Designed to offer higher displacement at a lighter weight, each of the Conventional MidSection (CMS) SeaPro V-8 models is the lightest in its class and their exceptionally compact, lightweight design pair with Advanced Range Optimisation (ARO) to maximise fuel economy at cruise.

Two-stroke replacements

The all new Mercury Racing 250R & 300R Outboards meanwhile replace the two-stroke V-6 250XS and 300XS models and feature Mercury Racing’s venerable Quad Cam Four Valve (QC4) sterndrive DNA.

The four valve heads and DOHC valve train is integrated with Mercury’s proprietary V-8 cylinder block and provide an astounding 44% in increased displacement compared to the legacy two-strokes.

Pro XS line-up

Barrus is also adding multiple new 4.6L V-8 Pro XS outboards from 200hp-300hp and an all-new 3.4L V-6 175hp Pro XS outboard.

Built on Mercury's new V-8 engine platform, the new 200hp-300hp Pro XS models deliver phenomenal torque thanks to their quad-cam design and Transient Spark technology.

Verado range

Raising the bar in the marine industry, the new 250 and 300hp V-8 Verado engines have a high-displacement, quad-cam design of the new V-8 powerhead generating plenty of torque; especially at mid-range.

The new 250 and 300hp V-8 Verado will be available with digital (DTS) controls and power steering and Mercury Joystick Piloting for Outboards for maximum manoeuvrability and control.
