Project Crystal: Mulder Design’s new 70m explorer concept

Mulder Design unveiled its latest superyacht concept, Project Crystal, during the first day of the Monaco Yacht Show 2018. Measuring 70-metres, the new expedition yacht was developed with luxurious and comfortable long range cruising in mind.

Consisting of a steel hull and an aluminium superstructure, Project Crystal exterior styling features ample use of glass to enhance the feeling of outdoor living. Her rugged Ice Class hull design ensures she will be able to visit the most remote and coldest areas of the earth, with sufficient space onboard for up to four vehicles for water and land exploration.

Able to accommodate up to 12 guests including the owner during charter, or up to 14 guests during private use, Project Crystal general layout includes a spacious private owner’s deck. Stand out features include a spectacular stairwell offering beautiful views, an open and closed fitness room as well as a certified helicopter landing area. The new explorer concept also features a sheltered tender deck for tenders up to 10.5 metres as well as a 3 person submersible.

Potential owners will be able to choose from a range of propulsion options, such twin diesel engines with convention propellers, hybrid propulsion combined with main diesel engines with PTI gearboxes for electric operation up to 12 knots and full diesel-electric propulsion through pod-propulsors. When powered by twin diesel engines, she will have a maximum speed of 18.5 knots and a cruising speed of 17.5 knots, with a range of 10,000 nm at 12 knots.
