WHISPERPOWER LAUNCHES NEW LITHIUM ION BATTERY

WhisperPower has launched a new lithium ion battery, a sustainable alternative to the conventional lead-acid battery.

Until now, most lithium ion batteries have a lithium-cobalt oxide, which is limited to less demanding applications such as consumer electronics because of their sensitivity to overheating and spontaneous combustion, explained Roel ter Heide, WhisperPower owner.

WhisperPower’s Ion Power Basic uses a new composition of lithium, iron and phosphate (LiFePO4) which has a lifespan designed to be up to three times longer than conventional lead-acid batteries, as well as being lighter and with more usable capacity.

The future of batteries

“The lithium ion battery is the future,” said Roel. “The market for this type of battery is so large and diverse and there are countless applications. The Ion Power Basic is an addition to our existing product range of industrial Ion Power batteries of 90 and 160Ah with which larger systems of up to 100kWh can be built.

The battery can be placed in any position and space and can be charged quickly and efficiently using the integrated battery management system. The output voltage is constantly stable and the battery does not have to be continuously connected to a trickle charger when not in use.

Cell balancing, which ensures that each of the cells in the battery receive the correct voltage, is integrated in the battery and a bi-stable relay is offered as an option as well as the charge system
