Built on a proven commercial hull, the Rodman 33 Offshore promises performance, comfort and supreme seakeeping

Rodman’s commercial arm does a roaring trade so it’s no great surprise that the leisure boat side of the business has been on the back burner of late.

This Rodman 33 Offshore is a smart example of the crossover between the two sides because by borrowing the hull of its 33 Patrol and topping it with a leisure-focused, walk-around deck, the yard has created an all-new model with a proven hull shape but also a significant reduction in development costs.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with borrowing a hull from such a well-proven commercial craft – indeed it is the backbone of many port and customs authorities’ on-water operations.You’d never guess the commercial underpinnings either, it looks like a sportsfisher with extra creature comforts like a dinette, wetbar, sunpad and a cuddy below deck with a double berth and separate toilet.

Rodman will customise it too, removing or adding seating depending on how open you want the cockpit and offering various other amendments that allow the customer to build a boat that suits them best.

The only engine options available are outboard twins with either 300hp or 350hp – the latter being good for over 45 knots flat-out.

Given the tidy seakeeping and rugged build that Rodman is renowned for it should be able to carry much of that speed even in rough conditions and cruise all day in smoother conditions at any speed between 20 and 40 knots.
