Construction starts on 54m Wider 180 superyacht

Since its recent acquisition by the Monaco-based group Nautical Hybrid Tech in partnership with Zepter Group and Hopafi Holding Srl, the Italian shipyard Wider has started construction on the first 54-metre Wider 180 superyacht. With an anticipated delivery for February 2022, the first cut of her hull is set to take place at the beginning of 2020.

Wider 180 features a clean and minimalistic exterior design by the Rome-based design studio Andrea Vallicelli & C Yacht Design. Marcello Maggi, President of Wider commented: “I am an enthusiast of this project, be it for the beautiful, clean, modern lines or for its green soul, which is something we strongly believe in. We opened the way for electric propulsion to be applied to leisure superyachts and this is the right path to cover, without looking behind.”

Equipped with one main generator as well as a back-up generator that overall reduces the yacht’s weight and thus reduces fuel consumption and maintenance expenses, Wider 180 marks the shipyard’s first step towards integrating fully electric-powered technology to its superyachts.

The 160-square-metre large beach area boasts a seawater swimming pool, a spa and a gym, making it the ideal space for guests to unwind. A Floating Launching System enables the crew to easily move around as they launch and recover the 10-metre tender.
