Award-winning collaboration between Ferretti & Francesco Paszkowski Design Studio extends to new Custom Line 106

Last year Ferretti, along with Francesco Paszkowski Design Studio and Mecaer Aviation Group picked up the inaugural award for ’Collaborative Solution between a Superyacht Builder and its Supply Chain partner’ in the 2018 Boat Builder Awards in association with Raymarine. The countdown’s now on to find the standout projects for 2019

The large sliding and tilting aft door of Ferretti’s Custom Line 120, developed in collaboration with Francesco Paszkowski Design Studio and Mecaer Aviation Group, was the inaugural winner of the Collaborative Solution between a Superyacht Builder and its Supply Chain Partner award, sponsored by Lumishore, at the 2018 Boat Builder Awards, held in association with Raymarine. Now the design ethos behind the 120 has been carried through into the new Custom Line 106, which heralds the second collaboration between the Francesco Paszkowski Design Studio and the Italian boatbuilder.

The new yacht, launched officially in June at the 2019 Venice Boat Show, has some 220m² of exterior interconnected floor surfaces and features a novel concept whereby the flybridge directly connects to the bow through a generous port walkway, while the starboard walkway leads to the cockpit. The flybridge is reached using the port stairway. Notably to the stern is an advanced version of the patented DMT - Dual Mode Transom system. It features two sliding doors that cover the stairs when the vessel is in motion, thus providing a sleek, clean-cut appearance. When the vessel stops, the doors slide inside the hatch so that guests can climb up. From the garage, a Williams DieselJet505 tender and a three-person PWC can be lowered into the water.

Commenting on the 2018 Boat Builder Award, Alberto Galassi, CEO of Ferretti Group said: ”This accolade rewards our Group’s significant investments in Research & Development, an area of the yacht-building industry which could be defined as the search for new levels of comfort and the development of solutions capable of improving the on-board experience… There isn’t a single investment in R&D that wasn’t rewarded in the form of customer satisfaction. From our side, innovation is a door to the future, and in this case it is literally a door: the innovative glass door designed for the new Custom Line 120, a great and successful model in terms of sales. Owners and experts really appreciated this yacht as well as the new Custom Line 106’, another masterpiece of yachting that attracted the attention of public, even before its official debut in June 2019 at Venice Boat Show.”

The new 106 will be on display at the Cannes boat show next month, where IBI and the Boat Builder Award judges will be out in force, investigating more potential collaborations worthy of a nomination for the Awards to be held on November 19.

“Lumishore is once again delighted to continue Category Sponsorship of the BBA’s ’Collaborative Solution between a Superyacht Builder and its Supply Chain partner’ award, rewarding the best our industry has to offer,” added Lumishore CEO Eifrion Evans. ”The Boat Builder Awards, instigated by the IBI team, have become the ’must-attend’ event at METSTRADE each year and truly represent a celebration of the pinnacle of our industry’s offerings to our customers.”
