Construction begins on new Tampa marina

Real-estate development and land-investment firm BTI Partners has started work on a 150-slip marina in South Tampa that will be able to serve large vessels.

The marina is the centerpiece of a mixed-use community on Tampa Bay called Westshore Marina District.

The marina is located next to Marina Pointe, a luxury condominium development currently being built. It has direct access to Tampa Bay and its deigned to serve boats from 40 to 100 feet long. Concierge-level boat services will include a full-time dockmaster.

“The marina will be a great asset to Marina Pointe, making it Florida’s best new development for boaters,” Dominic Pickering, BTI Partner’s director of sales Central Florida Division, told patch.com. “Our vision was to provide condo owners an unmatched opportunity to have their boats right on their doorstep and enjoy unparalleled access to the largest new deep-water marina under construction in the region.”

Area boaters will be be able to temporarily dock at the marina where there will be restaurants and specialty retailers. Additionally, Galati Yacht Sales will open a new showroom that will carry Viking, Princess and Maritimo yachts.

“We are excited that the marina is underway. There is a lot of demand for deep-water marinas, and our clients will have access to the largest one in the region right outside our sales gallery,” Darren Plymale, COO of Galati Yacht Sales, said in a statement. “We’re also looking forward to serving the boating community that is sure to flock to Marina Pointe and Westshore Marina District.”

Once the master-planned community and neighboring residential projects are completed, the area will have nearly 2,400 new residences. Westshore Marina District will also offer walking trails and parks along the waterfront that will connect with the marina.
