SILLETTE SONIC AND LAKE ENGINEERING MERGER

Sillette Sonic and Lake Engineering (Poole) are to merge.

Under the helm of directors Ivan Hearn and Peter Owen, both companies have been sole UK distributor for Gori Propeller and Eliche Radice propellers and also agents for PSS shaft seal and will continue these roles in the future.

"Both companies have always had a good customer based with customers returning year in, year out and we would not want to change that," said Peter. "As the saying goes, why fix something that isn't broken?

"Ivan and I have worked at Lake Engineering for over ten years now, Ivan himself for 24 years; we both started in the workshop as machinists."

Retirement plans

He continued: "In 2017 an opportunity arose to buy Lake which was then owned by Sillette Sonic. Following that we had the opportunity last year to acquire Sillette Sonic due to [owner] Glen Print making retirement plans."

The two companies have worked closely together in the past with Lake Engineering manufacturing parts for Sillette's 'Sonic' Sterndrives and Saildrives.

Although the 'Sonic' Sterndrives will no longer be manufactured as a complete unit, spare parts will still be available.

The merged businesses will trade under the existing Sillette Sonic company name.
