The largest yachts to see at Miami Yacht Show 2020
With excitement building around the 32nd edition of the Miami Yacht Show 2020 which opens its doors to visitors this Thursday at One Herald Plaza in downtown Miami, we take a closer look at the five largest superyachts you don't want to miss in this year's lineup.
1. Bold - 2019 (SilverYachts, 85m)
Making her US debut at the Miami Yacht Show this year is the ultra-cool 85-metre SilverYachts superyacht Bold which was delivered to her owner last summer. As both the largest and newest superyacht to make her presence felt at Miami this year, her sturdy, explorer-style exteriors come from the drawing boards of Espen Oeino and she features a long aft helideck and fuel-efficient design. Her interiors can accommodate up to 16 guests and are designed by Andreas Hölnburger from German studio Vain Interiors.
2. Bella Vita - 2009 (Lürssen, 75m)
Coming in at second place is the 75-metre Lürssen motor yacht Bella Vita, delivered over a decade ago in 2009. Formerly known as Nothern Star, Bella Vita is another Espen Oeino design, with a high-volume interior designed by the Shropshire-based studio Pauline Nunns Associates. Thanks to her ice-classed hull and range of 6,000 nautical miles, Bella Vita has been able to take on remote cruising destinations with ease throughout her life so far, and she accommodates up to 12 guests as well as a crew of 22.
3. Quantum of Solace - 2012 (Turquoise Yachts, 72.6m)
Currently listed as a yacht for sale, Quantum of Solace (ex: Honor and Vicky) was originally delivered by the Turkish yard Turquoise Yachts in 2012. Undergoing several refits throughout her lifespan so far - the most recent of which took place at the Savannah Yacht Center in 2019 - she features naval architecture by Hydro Tec and exterior and interior design by London-based studio H2 Yacht Design. Standout features include her impressive full-beam spa, expansive sundeck with five-metre-long swimming pool and onboard disco. Thanks to twin Caterpillar 3516B engines, Quantum of Solace can reach speeds of up to 17 knots and cruise at 15 knots, with a range of 4,750 nautical miles at her most fuel-efficient.
4. Solo - 2018 (Tankoa Yachts, 72m)
Also currently listed as a yacht for sale, the 72-metre Solo takes the fourth spot on our list. As the flagship vessel to come from the Italian shipyard, Tankoa built on the features of their original superyacht, Suerte, to make Solo stand out with new and enhanced amenities in order to specifically target the charter market. Delivered in 2018, she has an exterior design by Francesco Paszkowski and interiors by Margherita Casprini. When at an efficient cruising speed of 10 knots, Solo only burns 195 litres per hour with one generator running, giving her an outstanding range of 7,000 nautical miles.
5. Huntress - 2010 (Lürssen, 60m)
Taking the final position on our top 5 is the 60-metre Lürssen, Huntress. Formerly cruising under the name of Solemates, Huntress was delivered in 2010 as one of the German yard's successful 60-metre series (which also includes the likes of Avanti, delivered in 2004 and Lady Kathryn V, delivered in 2011) and is currently listed as a yacht for sale. Exteriors of the vessel are by Espen Oeino and her interiors are by Glade Johnson, with up to 12 guests housed on board and a volume of 1,218 GT.
