Van der Valk Reveals Interiors of New Pilot Series

Dutch builder Van der Valk has revealed first look interior renderings of its new Pilot crossover series.

Milan-based studio Hot Lab were chosen to develop the interiors and have designed two colour schemes for the new series: the first features pops of turquoise while the second sees yellow as a recurring theme throughout.

Hot Lab's marketing director Antonio Romano has described the interior as "wonderfully rich and contemporary" to reflect the "rugged sophistication" of the Pilot series.

Designed by Cor D Rover, who also penned the builder’s BeachClub range, the new Pilot series will be available in a range of lengths beginning with a 23 metre model. Speaking about the design, Cor D Rover said: “Van der Valk recognises true innovation and this new Pilot line shows the yard is ready to implement new ideas at every turn.”

Described as a crossover between an explorer and comfortable modern yacht, the all-aluminium range combines a rugged explorer inspired exterior with comfort and quality. The yard said the new model “blends the best of both worlds by providing lots of outdoor space as well as plenty of interior volume.”

The preliminary 23 metre design features an elevate wheelhouse, freeing up the forward main deck. Meanwhile the spacious aft deck allows for sunbathing and the storage of tenders, Jet Skis and other toys. Owners can make a range of adaptions to the 23 metre model, including the addition of a gym aft and modifying the size of the tenders and toys on board. The saloon can also be extended aft to expand socialising space.

The main deck meanwhile includes a 4.9 metre swimming platform with a crane for deploying the tender and other superyacht toys. With the tenders launched, this space transforms into a beach club area complete with a terrace.

Inside, the lounge will sport floor to ceiling windows for far reaching ocean views, while the main deck also includes a galley and full beam master suite forward. The rest of the guest accommodation sits on the lower deck, comprising two twin ensuite cabins and a VIP. The crew quarters meanwhile includes two double cabins and a separate crew area with a bathroom and mess that is serviced by its own staircase.

Brushed oak, white birch and white glossy lacquered woods feature throughout, with white leather soft furnishings. Both interior options will come with a set of loose furniture provided by designers such as Flu, De Padova, Paola Lenti and Calligaris with lighting by names including Foscarni, Busier + Punch, Cantalupi and Kartell.

Van der Valk sales manager Yoeri Bijker has described the partnership with Hot Lab as a "stimulating new marriage between premium Dutch yachtbuilding and Italian design flair”.

"When you add a new range to your portfolio it is vital to offer an interior design that matches the ambition. Hot Lab have devised a timeless look that is unfettered by the constraints of the moment, perfectly capturing the spirit we have in mind with the Pilot”.

Details regarding the propulsion package of the new line have not yet been revealed.
