Flex LNG newbuild heads out to sea trials

LNG shipping company Flex LNG said its newbuild carrier Flex Artemis, under construction at DSME in South Korea, is ready for sea trials.

The company noted in its brief post through social media channels that the vessel run sea trials during May.

Upon delivery, the Flex Artemis will commence its long-term charter deal with Gunvor. The contract term is for ten years with the first five years being firm.

The 173,400-cbm vessel is fitted with a high-pressure two-stroke slow-speed propulsion system (ME-GI). It is also equipped with a full reliquefaction system (FRS) enabling a high level of operational flexibility given the low boil-off rate of 0.035% per day.

The yard is currently mobilizing the vessel for the test.

Together with its sister vessel, Flex Freedom that was launched by the South Korean shipyard in March this year, Flex Artemis scheduled for delivery in the third quarter of 2020.
