Wesley Dickman: 1939-2020

Wesley Dickman, a pioneer in the recreational marine business for 50 years, died last week at the age of 81.

Dickman held senior executive positions at Chris-Craft, Volvo Penta, Wellcraft and Bertram but is perhaps best known for teaming with Norberto Ferretti and George Kyriazakos to form Ferretti of America.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1939, Dickman attended the University of Miami and began his career in the marine industry in South Florida. After relocating to Lake Toxaway, N.C., he shifted to real estate sales, according to his obituary.

Dickman is survived by his wife, two sons and daughters-in-law, seven grandchildren and his golden retriever, Mercy.

“When able to overcome his overarching work ethic,” his obituary stated, “he could be found ogling or owning antique wooden Chris-Craft boats or skippering more modern craft towing his grandchildren around Lake Toxaway.”
