Revealed: 142 Metre Lürssen Superyacht Opus Launched

The 142 metre Lürssen superyacht Opus, previously known as Project Redwood, has hit the water for the first time.

The six decked superyacht was launched yesterday, July 9, from Lürssen's yard. It comes after the yacht, which is scheduled for delivery later this year, was technically launched in January 2019.

Designed by Italian design studio Nuvolari Lenard, Opus was first announced in December 2015 by Moran Yacht & Ship as a 139 metre project.

Project Redwood boasts a number of high-end features, such as a sports and diving centre on the lower deck, a large swimming pool, two superyacht helipads and a fleet of tenders measuring up to 15 metres.

Nuvolari Lenard is also responsible for the interior design, which will feature accommodation for 36 guests in 20 staterooms.

In order to have this number of guests the yacht is being built to comply with the Passenger Yacht Code.

In a statement, the studio added, "Project Redwood will have efficient, long-range cruising capabilities for independent global exploration."

The Moran Yacht & Ship New Construction Team is overseeing the build at the German yard and aim for delivery later this year, when she will take her place among the largest superyachts in the world, most likely ranking in the top 15.

This is not the first time German shipyard Lürssen has collaborated with Nuvolari Lenard and Moran Yacht & Ship. 88 metre Quattroelle was delivered by the same partnership in 2013 and the yacht was a finalist at the 2014 World Superyacht Awards.

The in-build superyacht was moved onto a floating dock as construction continued in December 2018.
