Arcadia Yachts launches second 24m Sherpa XL yacht

Arcadia Yachts has announced the launch of its second Sherpa XL. The 23.8-metre yacht was developed in collaboration with Milan-based design firm, Hot Lab. The designers were responsible for both her exterior and interior design.

Her profile is characterised by a streamlined profile and closed volumes in the bow. The latter allows for convertible spaces in the stern. Those behind the yacht's layout opted to feature a connected exterior to maximise outdoor space, rather than the number of smaller areas associated with traditional yachts' layouts.

Inside, accommodation comes in the form of a master suite, a VIP suite and two guest cabins with twin beds. The master suite merges seamlessly with the bathroom, there are no partitions and windows down to the waterline to ensure plenty of light.

“Even when choosing the partitions and the furniture, we opted for reflecting materials,” explains Enrico Lumini, Hot Lab’s head of design. “The contrast between shiny and matte surfaces means the partitions are not perceived as closing elements, they feel more like ‘transparent portals’. A perfect example is the wall between the lounge area and the staircase that connects all the decks. We treated it as an external sunshade wall, with the base made of reflective, shiny, nickel-coated material that stretches upwards as vertical rods of the same essence.”

Although the wide-beam of the latest Sherpa XL yacht allows for considerable customisation with the yacht’s interior, her spacious, ‘open’ design remains constant. The new skylounge on the Sherpa XL is embellished with colonial essence oak parquet and light grey Alpi furniture. Blinding systems are integrated into the manifold glass elements to ensure privacy for guests.

“The use of the ‘glass’ element is not limited just to the windows. It becomes an integral part of the interiors,” elaborates Lumini, “The idea was to stress the different functions of the skylounge by inserting materials that did not obstruct the view. Take for example the glass walls that separate the jardin d’hiver from the wheelhouse: the depth of the visual field does not change, yet the flows of the crew and passengers can be separated when and if necessary.”

As well as a focus on ergonomic design and rooftop solar panels, the new Sherpa XL is equipped with twin IPS 1350 engines and can travel a maximum speed of 23 knots. The model boasts consumption levels almost 30% lower than other yachts in its size range, with an estimated range of 1,000 miles at 12 knots or over 1,400 at 10 knots.
