The inaugural edition of the Phuket Yacht Show

Created by the organisers of the Singapore Yacht Show, the inaugural edition of the Phuket Yacht Show will be held at Thailand’s Phuket Yacht Haven Marina from 12th to 15th February.

The date of the show has been strategically held in the areas high season in order to maximise the exhibitor’s and partner’s exposure on the island, with an estimated 300,000 visitors expected to Phuket over the month. This substantial increase in visitor arrivals in comparison to previous years is in part due to a rise in the number of international airlines servicing the island. Phuket Yacht Show organiser Andy Treadwell, comments, “Our decision to launch the Phuket Yacht Show was a considered one. In order to grow the appetite for yachting in the region, you need to promote the destinations which sell the lifestyle and Phuket does a superb job in that manner.”

Commenting on the increase in visiting yachts to the area, Fraser Yachts’ Global Marketing Manager Lisa Peck comments, “Two years ago, there was a limited number of yachts visiting Asia. However we are now seeing an increase in interest for this region as our owners and charter clients discover the difference and benefits of cruising the winter season in Asia.”Organisers report the show is attracting exhibitors from around the world to South East Asia, one of which being Fraser Yachts, who will be presenting the 34 metre Azul A. Built by Dutch shipyard Moonen in 1997, she underwent a major refit in 2014. Broker Jan Jaap Minnema of Fraser Yachts comments, “Fraser Yachts is excited about presenting Azul A at the Phuket Yacht Show. She would be perfect for the Asian-based cruising enthusiast as she combines relaxed luxury with ocean-going capabilities, including stabilisers for a smoother on-water experience.”
