THE SEACLEANERS looking for new partners at EUROMARITIME

The EUROMARITIME trade fair is the unmissable Euro-Mediterranean meeting place for all professionals in the maritime and inland waterway blue growth sector. Over the past few years, the exhibition has become the meeting point for a promising sector that is resolutely committed to the ecological transition, the reduction of pollution and the preservation of oceans and rivers.

This year's edition, which will take place in Marseille from 28 to 30 June, will welcome a newcomer who perfectly embodies this vision: the NGO THE SEACLEANERS, which will present its concept of an ocean cleaning boat, the MANTA.

The NGO fighting against plastic pollution and created in 2016 by skipper Yvan Bourgnon, is preparing to launch a Call for Tenders to shipyards for the construction of the MANTA, which is due to set sail at the end of 2025.

The objective of THE SEACLEANERS at EUROMARITIME will be to present its factory ship to shipyards interested in this totally new project, but also to bring on board shipbuilding industrialists and equipment manufacturers wishing to participate in the project, through financial sponsorship, skills sponsorship or in-kind sponsorship.

The MANTA is a pioneering solution for collecting and repurposing floating plastic waste. A 56m long, 26m wide and 62m high sailing ship, it will be equipped with an on-board factory including a waste-to-energy conversion unit. This giant of the seas will thus be the first concentrated ecology and technology factory ship capable of collecting and processing floating ocean waste en masse before it gets fragmented, starts to drift and penetrates the marine ecosystem in the long term. It will operate in areas of high marine litter concentration, near the estuaries of major rivers and in the coastal waters of countries most impacted by plastic pollution.

The MANTA will be powered by a combination of renewable energy technologies to minimise its carbon footprint and achieve 50 to 75% energy autonomy. It will also serve as a state-of-the-art scientific laboratory for the observation, analysis and understanding of ocean plastic pollution and as an educational platform open to the public.

At EUROMARITIME, a team of 3 people will be on hand to interact with visitors and exhibitors, with the support of naval architect LMG-Marin, who is providing technical support to THE SEACLEANERS as part of a skills sponsorship.
