The 2015 Palm Beach International Boat Show highlights + Gallery

This was the 30th edition of the Palm Beach International Boat Show and people were very impressed about the magnitude of the event.

The show featured more than $1.2 billion worth on yachts, boats and marine accessories.

It attracted about 45.000 attendants, "This, without question, is the best boat show," said Pat Healey, president and CEO of Viking Yacht Company, which employs 175 people in South Florida. "There are so many ways to get to this waterfront, so it’s a no-hassle, big-thrill boat show."

But let’s talk about boats, the largest in the show was the 200-foot Aurora.

A captain said the show is also good for smaller boats. He’d seen a lot of interest in his yacht, the 108-foot Broward M/Y Double Down, for which he is also the broker.

So the Boat Show accommodated all kind of buyers, but it seems that the number of large vessels buyers is considerably going up this year.

In terms of weather this Boat Show had a hard time with the rain, "We're all boaters out here. So a little bit of wind and a little bit of water never seems to bother the boaters," said Danny Grant, spokesman for the Palm Beach International Boat Show.

But some lighting really made everyone to take shelter indoors.

"We're prepared if somebody falls in, we're prepared for boat fires, we're prepared for anything that could possibly happen," said battalion chief Kevin Lewis.

Some highlights:

- Nautical Ventures Group introduced its AquaZone pool and pools demonstrations for the first time.

- Denison Yacht Sales signed not one but five deals during the show with a price.

- Burgess sold 1 yacht last year, this year they received offers for three yachts over 100 feet or longer.

"This year, it's as good as last year and possibly better," said Crispin Baynes. The rising strength of the U.S. dollar is boosting interest by American buyers in super-yachts priced in lower-value euros, he added.
