Vetus Launches New Electric Motors

Vetus introduced a range of air-cooled electric motors at boot Düsseldorf in Germany.

The E-Line Air series comprises three models — EAIR04024, EAIR040 and EAIR060 — with outputs of 4 kW at 24 volts, 4 kW at 48 volts and 6 kW at 48 volts, respectively.

Vetus said in a statement the engines are designed for new builds and repower applications for boats to 26 feet. The E-Line Air motors have a dry weight of 143 pounds and use existing transmission hardware with a 1-to-1 gear ratio, meaning the propeller spins at the same speed as the motor. The motors also have active braking.

The modular motors have an internal control system and are compatible with NMEA2000 networks with a Vetus CANV2N CANverter and digital CAN-bus communication system. Vetus provides a three-year warranty with the engines.
