Tuco ASV construction underway

Following last month’s ‘MJ’ article on air supported vessels Tuco Marine (Denmark) in collaboration with Effect Ships (Norway) has reported construction in progress for a new ASV carbon offshore support vessel.

The project is receiving support from Markedsmodningsfonden in Denmark and the Norwegian Research Council. The 17,7 m x 5,2 m vessel is the first in a planned range of ASV Offshore Support Vessels (OSVs) ranging from 15 m to more than 45 m LOA .

Diab (Norway) is responsible for the light weight carbon Divinycell engineering and Volvo Penta IPS pod propulsion will be used. The team is combining the best solutions available to deliver new state of the art performance, economy in use and operational capability.

The vessel’s estimated top speed will be in excess of 40 knots with only 2 x 320 KW engines for propulsion giving unrivalled fuel consumption. The hull, designed for offshore use has been extensively tested at SSPA Sweden; and is perfectly suited for a wide range of applications: Navy, patrol duties, customs/police, coast guard, pilot duties, crew transfer, ambulance duties and fire-fighting.
