Superyacht of the Week: Fitzroy's 37.5 metre Escapade

Recently launched by New Zealand-based shipyard Fitzroy Yachts, Escapade is a contemporary 37.5 metre sloop designed for fast cruising in great comfort and luxury. Built for first-time European owners, the aluminium design features sleek lines, a slender silhouette and an undeniably modern personality. In short, an appealing combination of style and performance that will certainly impress every guest.

A subtle bronze exterior offers lots of space, natural light and vista views. Everywhere onboard, it's easy to feel connected to the surrounding environments while being pampered by Escapade's lush and luxurious sense of style. Starting with her large deck areas, which offer a panoramic aft deck and cockpit plus an impressive and private sun bathing area fore with big sun pads and a large Jacuzzi tub, an area that is both open and wonderfully private. With her raised saloon and fixed bimini shades over the aft deck cockpit, Escapade is all about bringing the outside in and emphasising the joy of living amongst the elements, all in a clean style that is understated yet pleasantly dramatic at times.

Designed by Dubois Naval Architects, with interiors from Design Unlimited, Escapade offers a spacious saloon, the lush master quarters and two guest suites aft, plus a fourth guest cabin, which also functions as a day room, fore. Upon boarding, one is welcomed on the wide aft deck with curvy lounge and sun bathing corners that make perfect use of the stunning surrounding views. Ample deck space and panoramic vistas are key ingredients here, with a vibrant red and soft bronze colour scheme combined with curvy shapes for the inviting sofas.

If anything, Escapade is all about combining luxury with performance. Moving fore from the aft deck, the cockpit, which features two wave-shaped helm stations adjacent to the lounge sofas and mechanically operated windows, offers an al fresco dining room and lounge which leads down into the light main saloon. Here, a soft cream and lavender colour palette is combined with big panoramic windows and ample natural light to form a room that is cozy and modern with a luxurious yet soft atmosphere. The main saloon has a big U-shaped lounge and formal dining area with separate bar and breakfast corner.

As soft as the design scheme for the main saloon might be, all the more bold and outspoken is the overall ambiance for the lower deck guests quarters. All being light and contemporary in design, each stateroom combines stylised modern elements such as minimalistic cabinetry and long uninterrupted lines throughout, with bold splashes of colour, texture and outspoken materials. From intricately carved wooden artwork to the upholstered wall panels in the main guest corridor, Escapade seamlessly combines a contemporary look with exotic and vibrantly bold details.

The full beam master suite offers ample space flooded with natural light, with separate lounge and office areas present. Panoramic windows, a colour scheme of light natural tones combined with fresh light green and dashes of stainless steel, the master stateroom is all about offering a new take on contemporary finesse. Walk-in wardrobe and large en suite turn these quarters into impressive and comfortable accommodations that are familiarly inviting yet surprisingly different. All other guest suites offer large staterooms, en suite bathrooms and ample storage space, designed in a modern style of lightness and contemporary luxury.

With her strong and clean exterior lines, Escapade is a striking sight on the water. And with her stylish and luxurious interiors, she certainly is no less impressive for those lucky enough to spend time onboard. Great style and amazing performance, Escapade is elegant and bold, an undeniable competitor on the regatta circuit.
