THE NSP COCO MAT STAND UP PADDLEBOARD

A streamlined, lightweight SUP made from...coconut!

In the constant quest for a more efficient, resistant and lightweight material, companies keep on coming up with crazier ideas, and for this product, we believe it is fair to say they went nuts. Sorry for the terrible joke, but lets be honest, it’s not going to be the last one. This concept just blew our minds. Although everybody seems to worship carbon fiber, it turns out NSP realized this material would not fit a sunny and warm environment, not to mention the eco-friendly/ dare-devil spirit of the surfers. Coconut would, however, fit all of these criteria.

Indeed, it turns out coconut fiber has a better strength-to-weight ratio than carbon fiber! But it’s also a fully natural and renewable resource. The process to transform the raw material into one of these awesome boards also requires less toxic epoxy resin. In the end, the board isn’t much different than a normal one. It has the same traditional ESP foam core with the same inner and outer fiberglass coating. The only difference is the coconut layer that comes in between those two.

With prices ranging between $365 (for the Coco Mat Fish surfboard) and $1570 for the Coco Mat Stand-Up Paddleboard, NSP attests the boards are among the lightest and strongest on the market!
