UP AND COMING: MARINE ELECTRONICS

Four of the latest and greatest in marine electronics

The end of 2013 has seen a slew of exciting developments in marine electronics. Indeed, the fall boat show season was the perfect opportunity to view and preview some of the most exciting additions for the upcoming year. Here are four of our favorites:

Garmin’s ClearVü™ Scanning Sonar Technology with DownVü™ and SideVü™ capabilities. Presented last week at METS, the new technology provides an exceptionally precise rendering of the structure beneath your boat. It will be available for certain echo™ fishfinders as well as echoMAP™ and GPSMAP™ fishfinder/chartplotter combos.

B&G’s H5000 instrument and autopilot systems. Also presented at METS, the H5000 offers a system that is powered by an ultra-fast CPU and complemented by a high resolution Graphical Display, autopilot access with the Pilot Controller, a Race Display and Expansion Modules. Perfect for cruising or solo racing, the system is an evolution of its award-winning predecessor, the H3000, that more precisely supports the exact needs of the boat and its crew.

Simrad’s NSS evo2 touchscreen navigation. Available beginning this month, the NSS evo2 series integrates a sleek wide-screen display with the extra-precise TouchSensible™ multi-touch interaction. It also offers integrated GPS, CHIRP-enabled Broadband sonar and StructureScan™ Sonar for a complete picture.

ION10 and ION12 multi-function displays by Humminbird®. Having premiered at FLIBS in October, ION is a centerpiece for the necessary on-board information, offering a high-resolution, 10.4- or 12.1-inch high-definition XGQ LCD Touch Display that can also be customized to include Humminbird RADAR, Autopilot, wireless connectivity and a built-in web browser.
